Tune Hotels and GE Collaborates






Tune Hotels and GE

A Memorandum of Collaboration between the General Electric (GE) and Tune Hotels was recently signed for sustainable developments. The collaboration benefits the Tune Hotels in reviewing, planning and designing properties including the acquisition of eco-building certifications from Malaysia’s Green Building Index, the Singapore Building and Construction Authority’s BCA Green Mark and the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

 

The partnership is GE’s commitment to speed up the development and deployment of innovative technologies through open collaboration. GE will be using their ecomagination and GE sustainable Cities approach to help Tune Hotel in creating environmental solutions for their projects. Stuart Dean, Chief Executive Officer of GE Asean said that “GE had been building sustainable developments certified by various Green Building Certifications programs” around the globe. He also added that GE is hoping to contribute and share their expertise by working hand in hand with Tune Hotels.

 

Other than Tune Hotels, GE also has collaborative agreements with diverse industries from both private and public companies. This includes NAZA, PETRONAS, TNB, Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, and Sapura.

 

Meanwhile, the collaboration has extended the consistent pursuit of Tune Hotel for green technologies and eco-friendly approache. They have pioneered the pay-as you-use concept that is known by travellers worldwide. Mark Lankester, Tune Hotels’ Group CEO said that they are “proud to be working with GE on exploring environmentally driven business strategies.”

 

At present, Tune Hotels has 13 hotels globally with its 10th Malaysian hotel in Kulim, Kedah. Two hotels are already serving tourists and travellers in Bali, Indonesia and London, England. Tune Hotels are eyeing for more openings in Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, the UK, India and Malaysia in 2012.
